Each title within the Pocket History Series is an A5 landscape format book covering a specific aspect of an area of the historic Forest of Pendle (as it stood before boundary changes placed Pendle within the Forest of Bowland).

The books are designed to offer as much historical information as possible within an affordable format. Although each book is packed with photographs, maps, diagrams and plans the Series is not intended to be merely a group of old pictures. The early and modern history of each subject has been closely researched and the images are intended to compliment and illustrate the background to each area.

The first titles in the Series (numbers 1, 2 and 3) cover the area of Barrowford, from Newbridge to Higherford while the latest addition (no. 4) covers the whole of Blacko. It is intended to cover the remainder of Pendle Forest in future editions.
